What do we as a company mean by sustainable:

By sustainable we mean that in the long term we will leave the world better than we found it. That is why we try to include in all the parts within our company, from the start of production to the delivery of the plants to the shop floor, all things that can promote sustainability.

Sustainability in all themes within the company:

Cultivation of young plant material:

It already starts with the young plant material, we try to make this ourselves as much as possible, from cuttings to sowing. By doing the cultivation in-house, we can make a good start from the beginning with, among other things. the biological control of the sciarid larva. By immediately picking up this biologically well from the beginning, it also has a very strong effect further on in the cultivation at the nursery outside. The plants remain healthy so that chemical control can be left behind. In addition, a mixture of trace elements (these are chemical elements such as zinc, manganese or copper, of which a plant requires minimal amounts to grow properly) is also added to the cutting soil in which the young plants are grown. If the plant lacks these types of elements, this will eventually manifest itself in certain diseases. In addition, only cuttings are taken from the strongest plants.

Growing end products at the nursery:

When the young plants are large enough, they are repotted in a larger pot so that it can grow further into a full-fledged plant that the consumer can buy at the garden center.

Here too, trace elements and organic fertilizers are added to the soil in which the plants are planted, not to mention enough lime. By using organic fertilizers and the extra lime in the soil, the plant continues to grow very quietly and compactly in the nursery.

Because the plants grow nice and quiet, they hardly suffer from fungal diseases and animal pests, because don't forget only hunted plants suffer from fungi and annoying insects.

In addition, the plants are grown on cultivation beds that have been laid out completely recirculated. This means that we collect all the water that falls throughout the year at the nursery and in a large basin of 6000 m3. The plants receive water from this basin again if necessary.

The advantage of this is that the plants always get water that is at the right temperature and so no shock effects take place during cultivation. We see this reflected in the quality of the plants in the field and at the customers.

Delivery phase towards construction market:

Because we are growing more and more plants in a slightly larger pot size, the so-called P11, they are stronger when transplanting and they will continue to grow much better. Because the plants take better in the park, it grows up much faster, with the advantage that much less maintenance is required after construction. And not to forget the intended result is visible much faster.

All plants to the landing market are delivered in deposit boxes, where we increasingly remove the pots from the plant before delivery, so that no more flower pots are released at the workplace.

Major advantages of this are, fewer construction hours are required at the workplace, and the pots are reused at the nursery for the next crop. So there is absolutely no more plastic waste released during cultivation and in the delivery phase of the plants.

Delivery phase to the garden centers:

Because all our plants are grown in a potting soil mixture in which slow-acting fertilizers are processed, our plants maintain sufficient nutrition throughout the entire sales season. As a result, the consumer buys a vital plant that grows well in the garden or on the terrace and therefore also meets the expectations of the customer.

And do not forget vital plants are hardly affected by diseases and pests, and vital plants contain almost no chemistry, which is also very beneficial for the bees and butterflies that visit the plants.

The pots in which the plants are produced are all made from 100% recycled plastic. This also applies to the trays in which the plants are delivered, which are also made from 100% recycled plastic.

From this year on, all our plants are produced in pots that are made from the plastic household waste that is delivered separately by the municipalities to the pot producers and so the cycle is complete again.
